PSF Annual Report 2019

Established in 2003, Partnership for Strong Families (PSF) is the lead community-based care agency for Florida Judicial Circuits 3 and 8. PSF is contracted by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to deliver comprehensive child welfare services to children who are victims of abuse and neglect. PSF also works with at-risk families to prevent child abuse and to decrease the risk of children entering the out-of-home care system. PSF serves nearly 5,000 children in 13 counties annually, including Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor and Union Counties.

The Numbers …
• There are more than 24,000 children in out-of-home care in the state of Florida.
• There are approximately 800 children in out-of-home care in North Central Florida. Of those, about 200 are in licensed foster care.
• There are currently about 30 children available for adoption in North Central Florida.
• More than 110 families in North Central Florida are currently opening their hearts and homes to foster youth by serving as a Partner Family (Foster Family)!

Child Welfare Process Flow Chart

The child welfare process can be confusing! Our friends at the Florida Coalition for Children helped put together this flow chart to show the typical process that happens from the time a hotline call is made to the time a child finds permanency. Partnership for Strong Families’ 990

Child abuse is preventable
We can help change the lives of many children and teens.

A hallmark of PSF’s system of care is our belief that child abuse is preventable. We have found that by providing resources and supports to families in need on the front end, many can avoid reaching the crises that lead to formal child welfare involvement functions.
