LAKE CITY, FLA – A new Family Resource Center that is set to open in Lake City in early 2021 now has its official location. Partnership for Strong Families (PSF) announced today that their new Resource Center will open at the Richardson Community Center in the Ferguson Building, and staff will begin working out of the building on August 1.
The Family Resource Center will be the fifth in PSF’s network of similar Resource Centers located in Gainesville and Chiefland. With the support of a federal grant from the Administration for Children and Families’ Children’s Bureau, the agency began plans to open the Lake City Resource Center in late 2019. Currently a Resource Center Advisory Council, which is comprised of several key community-serving agencies in Columbia County, is meeting monthly to conduct a Strengths and Needs Assessment for families in Lake City. This data will help to determine the services and resources that will be provided at the Resource Center, once opened.
“One of the driving factors that has made our Resource Center Model impactful for our patrons is the selection of the right location to offer services,” stated Pebbles Edelman, Sr. VP of Clinical and Community Service for PSF. “We are thrilled to partner with Columbia County at the Richardson Community Center, which will allow our services to be offered in a central location with ample space for community events, family activities and more.”
“I am very happy that Partnership for Strong Families will be joining us at the Richardson Community Center,” stated Mario Coppock, Recreation Director at the Columbia County Recreation Department. “I am looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship to benefit our community.”
The agency is also excited to announce the hiring of the Resource Center Manager, Dr. Philip Mobley. Dr. Mobley is passionate about the family-strengthening services that will be offered at the Resource Center and brings to the role a wealth of knowledge and investment in the Lake City Community.
“I am so grateful to be allowed to give back to the families and children of this great community through the Family Resource Center. I am prayerful that this effort will be a blessing to the community as a whole,” stated Dr. Philip Mobley, Resource Center Manager.
