Answers For Families

The child welfare system can be very complicated and confusing.  We hope that you can find some answers in these pages to help you understand the system and what you can expect.

  • If you are a parent who has been visited by a DCF investigator and have been told your case is being transferred to PSF for services, try the What to Expect section in For Families.
  • If you are a friend or family member of someone with an open case and you are caring for their children, see the Answers for Caregivers section under For Families.
  • If you are a youth whose family has a case with PSF or if you are a teen in foster care, check out the For Kids section to find out about your rights and things that are available to you.
  • If you are just looking for some resources in your area that can help you strengthen your family, you should visit the Resources page under For Families.

No matter what your situation, PSF is committed to helping you strengthen your family.  We believe that every person has strengths and deserves our respect.  Our primary goal is to keep your child safe, something we can all agree on.

The resource guide below was created by the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry, but contains information on several surrounding counties as well.  Additional resources can be found divided by region on the Resource page.
