CASE MANAGEMENT THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD

Check out this video from Children’s Home Society about improving case manager turnover! High turnover among case managers causes instability within the system and has a negative effect on outcomes. Case managers are more effective when they establish trusting relationships with their clients, regularly interact with children and families in their care, and remain on a case until it is closed. Increased effectiveness = better outcomes for kids.

FOSTER CARE LAW GOES INTO EFFECT THIS MONTH, YOUNG ADULTS BENEFIT

Turning 18 for many teens means freedom but some foster children aren’t ready to cut the cord.
Foster teens making the transition into adulthood are now granted an extended stay until they’re 21, in their foster homes.
A new law went into effect at the beginning of the month and helped create the “MY future, MY choice program.”
Partnership for Strong Families Representative,  Jenn Petion says, “it offers youth who would’ve normally aged out of the foster care system at 18, the ability to stay in the home that they’re in until 21 or 22 if they have a documented disability. So it gives them time to be like a normal young adult.”
